In the last blog Solar, we had been looking at our mind and how it stores and holds onto things. We know that our minds are vast and much of it is unexplored, just like the solar system we live in today. On a conscious level we can often, over time, work things through, but if we think things work like that on a deeper unconscious level then we are mistaken. Our inner mind works very differently on what we experience, how we hold onto things and the whole process of fully letting go. But don’t be worried and think we can get stuck in the past and never move on either. Often, it’s not about blanking out the past and pretending it didn’t happen, it is about coming to terms with the past on a deeper level; that is the true key to change. If we change how we feel about the past then this is all we will ever need to do to make lasting changes. As it’s not about the past per se, it is about how we feel about the past that is important. This is great, as we can’t change the past, but we can change how we feel about it.

The subconscious mind takes everything literally, it does not differentiate between negative and positive. So, if you continually tell yourself that you’ll never succeed in a particular venture, it’s more likely to turn out that way. The subconscious mind is subjective, it doesn’t think or reason independently, it simply obeys the commands it receives from your conscious mind.
As Henry Ford said, “If you think you can, or if you think you can’t, you’re right!” When we dream about the future or get nostalgic thinking of the past, it is the conscious mind that’s at work. The conscious mind thinks in terms of the past and future, rather than the present. Our subconscious mind is constantly focused on the present moment, making it key that we come to terms with things that have upset or shocked us.

This is because those experiences are just orbiting us, as we are the planet at the centre of our own universe, as the unconscious mind doesn’t know time; past, present, and future are all just rolled into one. The things that take up the most time in our minds become the things that orbit closest to us. So, if we are worrying about something then they will be orbiting us closely and impacting us continually on a daily basis, as the moon or sun does for us in the solar system, we live in. This concept is great for us on many levels as all those things we have learnt in life are there at our fingertips, as they are the closest to us in our orbit. They will be easy to see and reach, like the clouds in the sky, allowing us to live our lives free of many mundane processes, which of course is just amazing. But the flip side to this is that if we can’t let something go then this will orbit us in the same way. This might be something that happened yesterday, but it also could be something that happened 50 years ago, as time doesn’t play any part in this on an unconscious level. Your inner mind won’t distinguish the difference because it doesn’t hold anything other than what it thinks is the present, and things we are still holding onto are classed as present to the unconscious.
The subconscious mind is like a massive computer processor, all our computers that we have now were originally designed around the model of our brain, and at one time were called electronic brains. The human body functions much in the same way as modern-day computers or rather, computers operate in much the same way to the most complex processing unit there has ever been – the human brain. The subconscious mind is far more powerful than the conscious mind and can process huge quantities of information that come via your five senses and translates them back to your brain in the blink of an eye. Our subconscious mind communicates in images, feelings, and metaphors, focusing on emotion rather than logic or reason. Our intuition is the complex system in the brain that acts as a bridge between the subconscious and the conscious mind. It’s the process of the brain that requires no analytical reasoning.

The key to all of this is that we need to help our minds let go of what no longer serves us and this will allow the unconscious mind to let these things fall out of close orbit, letting things move into the vast cosmos of our inner solar system. This can then allow us to bring the things into our lives that we truly want, as there is now lots of space to get new and more positive experiences, thoughts, and feelings, to start to orbit us. If we are struggling to change then it is more than likely that we have something orbiting us that we think we have let go of consciously, but it is still in that dark side of our mind that we can’t consciously see as clearly. This is where hypnotherapy or even a good life coach or counsellor can help you see that you are still living in the past. There are so many things to concentrate on in life, it is so easy to let something get hidden in plain sight.
Take the time to clear your orbit of all that you no longer need and create those new and positive feelings to become your new focus. Sara x
